The Police Service Commission (PSC), has announced that over 170,000 applicants have been shortlisted to participate in the Computer Based Test (CBT), as part of the ongoing police recruitment process.
According to Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, the CBT is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th, 2024.
Following the conclusion of credentials and physical screening exercises conducted nationwide, a total of 171,956 successful candidates from the General Duty cadre have been selected for the CBT.
Additionally, 43,778 successful applicants from the specialists cadre will undergo practical tests on a later date to be announced.
The decision to entrust the conduct of the CBT to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was made after a meeting of the Police Recruitment Board on February 13th, 2024. This decision was based on JAMB’s established reputation for conducting such examinations effectively.
Of the shortlisted candidates, 25,818 are female, while 146,138 are male. Kaduna State leads with the highest number of candidates at 12,343, followed by Bauchi, Benue, and Katsina. Conversely, Anambra, Lagos, and Ebonyi have the least number of candidates for the aptitude tests.
Successful candidates from the CBT will proceed to undergo medical examinations before commencing training. The recruitment process aims to strengthen the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force with qualified and competent individuals.
The PSC urges all shortlisted applicants to prepare adequately for the upcoming tests.
