In a bid to address the displacement of street traders caused by the Agodi Gate Junction Improvement Works, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the allocation of free stalls in the new market constructed as part of the project.

This announcement came during the commissioning of the Idi Ape, Civic Centre, and Agodi Gate Junction Improvement Projects on Friday, March 22.

Governor Makinde emphasised that the projects aim to not only reduce commuting time for residents but also enhance traffic flow and stimulate commercial activities in the area. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enforcing regulations against street trading and promoting orderliness within the city.

The governor disclosed plans for three additional Junction Improvement Projects in UI-Agbowo, Polytechnic Road-Sango, and Eleyele Junction, underscoring the significance of these initiatives in the state’s Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023-2027.

Expressing gratitude to Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his presence at the event, Governor Makinde emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in national development.

He further highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road, aimed at sustainable development and economic growth in Oyo State.

At the flag-off of the 32.2km road infrastructure component of the Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road, Governor Makinde assured strict supervision of the project and pledged to compensate property owners affected by the development.

In attendance at the events were dignitaries including former Oyo State Military Administrator, Major General Oladayo Popoola (retired), Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, among others.

The events underscored Governor Makinde’s commitment to urban regeneration and sustainable development in Oyo State, earning commendations from attendees for his visionary leadership and transformative initiatives.
