Omotayo Crashes Out of Table Tennis Singles.

Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo was eliminated in the Round of 64 of the men’s singles table tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, losing 4-1 to Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan. Omotayo started strongly, securing the first set with an 11-6 win. However, the 29-year-old struggled to maintain his momentum, subsequently losing the next four sets 11-5, 11-4, 12-10, and 11-8.

This result mirrors Omotayo’s performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where he also exited at the same stage of the competition.

Team Nigeria’s hopes in the men’s singles now rest on Aruna Quadri, who is set to face Romania’s Eduard Ionescu. In the women’s singles, Offiong Edem and Fatimo Bello are scheduled to compete on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
