PDP Chieftain Endorses Peter Obi For 2027 Presidential Election.
A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Segun Sowunmi, has thrown his weight behind Labour Party’s Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election. Sowunmi described Obi as the most prepared candidate in a political landscape dominated by unready contenders.
Speaking at the May Day celebration in Abuja, Sowunmi praised Obi’s leadership qualities and vision for Nigeria. He described Obi as the “only authentic presidential candidate for 2027” and dismissed other contenders as “fake”.
The event, which brought together civil society actors, political leaders, and artists, was organised by the Obidient Movement, Cyrus Group, and the Free Nigeria Foundation. The speakers criticised the current economic situation in the country and expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of governance.
Senator Nenadi Usman, Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, also spoke at the event, outlining a five-point agenda for workers. The agenda includes living wages, housing, healthcare, and enforcement of labour laws. She emphasised that a government that doesn’t reflect its achievements in the lives of its people is not a government.
Sowunmi’s endorsement is significant, given his background in the PDP. His support for Obi underscores the growing momentum behind the Labour Party leader’s presidential ambitions.
