Premier League: Cole Palmer Strikes Four As Chelsea Cruise Past Brighton To Go Third

Cole Palmer Strikes Four As Chelsea Cruise Past Brighton To Go Third.

Cole Palmer made Premier League history by becoming the first player to score four first-half goals in a single match as Chelsea swept aside Brighton in a thrilling encounter at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old forward delivered an extraordinary performance, propelling Chelsea to third place in the table.

In a match packed with entertainment, Palmer not only found the net four times but also hit the post and had a goal disallowed for offside before the break. Chelsea’s fast-paced attack capitalised on Brighton’s high defensive line, which proved costly for the visitors.

Brighton managed to score twice early in the game, with both goals resulting from mistakes by Chelsea’s goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who was previously with Brighton. However, Palmer’s outstanding individual display soon took control of the match.

After Albion’s Georginio Rutter opened the scoring for the visitors, Palmer wasted no time in turning the tide. His first goal came from a Nicolas Jackson assist, just moments after he had hit the post and had an offside goal. He quickly added a second, converting his 10th consecutive successful penalty after Jadon Sancho was fouled in the box. Palmer completed his hat-trick with a sensational 25-yard free kick into the top corner.

The young star wasn’t done yet, netting his fourth goal following a Sancho pass, just after Carlos Baleba had scored for Brighton, capitalising on a poor pass from Sanchez to give the visitors a glimmer of hope.

Chelsea, having scored six against Wolves last month, once again showcased their attacking prowess. Despite Brighton’s refusal to adapt their defensive strategy, the match was a statement victory for the Blues. Brighton’s young manager Fabian Hurzeler experienced his first taste of defeat in what many viewed as a tactically naive approach.

The second half was far less eventful, though Palmer did miss a chance to score his fifth when he fired wide. Nevertheless, his brilliant first-half display ensured a comfortable win for Chelsea, further solidifying their position among the Premier League’s top contenders.
