Premier League Confirms 2025/26 Season Start Date, Fixtures To Be Unveiled On 18 June.

The Premier League has officially announced key dates for the 2025/26 season, setting the stage for another thrilling chapter of top-flight English football. The campaign will kick off on the weekend of 16 and 17 August 2025, with all 380 matches scheduled to be revealed at 09:00 BST on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

Football enthusiasts across the nation can mark their calendars for the fixture release, which will be published on the Premier League’s official website, premierleague.com, and via its app. The announcement will provide provisional dates for all matches, including opening-day clashes, festive period fixtures, and major derbies, although these remain subject to change based on television broadcast selections.

The 2025/26 season, the 34th in Premier League history and the 127th of top-flight English football, will commence 83 days after the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign, offering players the maximum rest period possible. The season will feature 33 weekend rounds and five midweek match rounds, with a commitment to ensuring no two rounds occur within 60 hours of each other, particularly during the busy festive period. In a move welcomed by many, the league has also confirmed there will be no fixtures on Christmas Eve, avoiding a repeat of past scheduling controversies.

The final round of matches is slated for Sunday, 24 May 2026, with all 10 games kicking off simultaneously at 16:00 BST, as is tradition, to ensure a dramatic and fair conclusion to the campaign. This end date allows the season to wrap up ahead of the FIFA 2026 World Cup call-up period, with the tournament set to begin on 11 June 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Adding to the anticipation, the 2025/26 season will see the return of Leeds United and Burnley, who earned automatic promotion from the Championship, alongside Sunderland, who secured their place via the play-offs. The trio will join the 17 top-flight teams from the previous season, completing a 20-team line-up. Meanwhile, Everton will play their first season at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, marking a historic move from Goodison Park.

The Premier League also highlighted innovations for the upcoming term, with the 2025/26 season being the first to fully implement semi-automated offside technology, introduced partway through the 2024/25 campaign. Additionally, Puma will replace Nike as the official match ball supplier, ushering in a new era for the competition.

As clubs gear up for pre-season, including friendly matches in the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, fans are already buzzing with excitement. The fixture release on 18 June will offer the first glimpse of what promises to be another enthralling season, with Liverpool defending their title and rivals eager to challenge for glory.
