President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Imo State on a one-day official visit, marking his second trip to the southeastern state in 2025.
The President landed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital, at exactly 12:52 p.m.
During his visit, Tinubu is expected to commission several transformative infrastructure projects completed by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration. These projects include the rebuilt Owerri Mbaise Obowo Umuahia Road, a brand-new flyover connecting Port Harcourt and Onitsha Roads with major upgrades around the Assumpta Cathedral Roundabout in Owerri, and the rebuilt Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre.
The President will also unveil Governor Uzodimma’s latest book, “A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria,” which reflects on the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the past decade. According to Governor Uzodimma, the book launch is a significant event that highlights the progress made in Imo State under his leadership.
Security has been beefed up in Owerri ahead of the President’s visit, with heavy deployment of security operatives, including personnel of the Nigerian Army. The police have also activated route lining and robust security coverage at all designated venues of the presidential engagements.
Residents have expressed mixed hopes and concerns about the visit, with some calling for improved security, job opportunities, and revival of public schools. Others have criticized the timing, questioning the legitimacy of some projects to be commissioned. Despite these concerns, the visit is expected to boost the state’s profile and attract investment.
The Lagos State Government’s infrastructure renewal drive aims to provide safe, durable, and sustainable infrastructure for a greater Lagos is not related to this story; however, this story revolves around President Tinubu’s visit to Imo State. With the President’s visit, Imo State is expected to gain more recognition and development.
