President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today, which included the swearing-in of eight newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries.

The meeting, as announced by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, was divided into two segments: the swearing-in ceremony and the council meeting.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, introduced the new Permanent Secretaries and read their citations before President Tinubu administered the oath of office. The appointees are:

1. Dr. Emanso Umobong Okop (Akwa-Ibom)

2. Obi Emeka Vitalis (Anambra)

3. Mahmood Fatima (Bauchi)

4. Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi (Jigawa)

5. Olusanya Olubunmi (Ondo)

6. Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila (Zamfara)

7. Akujobi Chinyere Ijeoma (South-East)

8. Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen (South-South)

These appointments aim to fill existing vacancies in some states and geo-political zones within the top administrative cadre of the Civil Service of the Federation. According to Ngelale, the selection process included rigorous examinations conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

President Tinubu expressed his expectation that the new Permanent Secretaries would demonstrate absolute dedication, diligence, and fidelity to the nation in discharging their duties, ensuring optimal service delivery to the Nigerian people.

In a separate development, cabinet members congratulated President Tinubu on his re-election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

SGF Akume remarked that West African regional leaders recognize President Tinubu as a committed leader working for the growth and development of Nigeria and Africa.

Akume stated, “Africa has seen a committed leader and once again saw the need to re-appoint the president as their leader. Cabinet members congratulate you, Mr. President, and we believe that you will continue to do your best. You have our support, and our loyalty is one hundred percent.”

The FEC meeting is expected to continue with discussions on various national issues and policy matters.
