Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has shared a painful experience from her past, revealing how she was financially exploited by her ex-lover for six months.
Martins’ confession came after fashion entrepreneur Veekee James shared a similar story of abuse and financial exploitation by an ex-lover.
In an emotional Instagram post, Martins revealed that she gave 50% of her monthly salary to her ex-lover, only to discover he was using the funds to support another woman’s business. The woman eventually married someone else, leaving her ex-lover abandoned.
Martins confessed that the experience transformed her into a “gold digger,” vowing to prioritize reciprocal support in future relationships.
“Stop overplaying your role in a relationship!” Martins warned. “Support your partner, but only if they’ve shown similar support and commitment.”
“I once gave my ex 50% of my salary for 6 months, but he used it to fund another woman’s business. I’m a lover girl, but since then, I’ve learned to prioritize my own needs… I’m unapologetically a gold digger now!”
Martins concluded with a call to action: “#Note: I’ll support my man, but only if he’s supported me to a level that warrants reciprocation.”
