Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Begins Sentence At Federal Prison In New Jersey

Hip‑hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred to a federal prison in New Jersey to begin serving his sentence following convictions on prostitution‑related charges.

Sources confirm he arrived Thursday at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix after being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024.

Combs’s legal team had requested his placement at Fort Dix, highlighting the institution’s drug‑treatment program and better access for family visits and rehabilitation opportunities. The move is seen as providing him with improved conditions compared with his prior detention.

In July, Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution after an eight‑week trial. He was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex‑trafficking charges. On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him to 50 months in prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.

Federal Bureau of Prisons records indicate his projected release date is May 8, 2028, though participation in prison programs and credits for time already served may adjust this date. His attorneys noted that he has already served roughly 14 months while awaiting trial and sentencing.

Combs’s legal team has filed for an expedited appeal, stressing that “an accelerated schedule is critical so his appeal does not become moot while he is incarcerated,” according to attorney Alexandra Shapiro. This appeal aims to challenge aspects of his conviction and sentence efficiently.

Fort Dix, a low‑security federal facility for male inmates located near Philadelphia, offers rehabilitative programming that Combs’s lawyers emphasized in their transfer request. The move from Brooklyn marks a shift to a facility with better resources for rehabilitation and family access.
