South Africa, finally hit the ground running as they thrash Namibia four goals to nothing to bolster their chances of making the knockout stages.
South Africa with an impressive first-half showing to secure all three points in the (AFCON), group stage second encounter, keeping their chances of progression alive until the final round of the group stage.
Namibia started positively, but South Africa took the lead, following a VAR check, they were awarded a penalty for a handball inside the box. Percy Tau -South Africa’s talisman stepped up to take the spot kick and confidently sent the ball into the back of the net for the opener just 14 minutes into the contest.
Namibia’s surge for a response to get back into the game, but the Brave Warriors left far too much space at the back, which gave room for South Africa to take full advantage as they doubled their lead through Themba Zwane, midway through the first half.
Namibia looked lost after conceding the second goal, and South Africa capitalised on their dominance to further extend their lead as Zwane dribbled into the box before firing an unstoppable shot past Kazapua to make it 3:0 in first half.
Just as the second half resumed, Namibia made two HT substitution to somehow find a way back into the game. The amass high possession in the early stages but had nothing to show for it.
As the intensity of the game decreased considerably in the second half, South Africa were still managed to add a fourth through Thapelo Maseko, who tapped in Teboho Mokoena pass from close range to round things up.
Group E remain open as South Africa move up to second place, level on points with Namibia.
The faith of individual nation, will be decided in the final round of group fixtures when South Africa face off against Tunisia who are desperate for points, while Namibia will tackle group leaders Mali.
