In a diplomatic mission to resolve the ongoing dispute between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over visa bans, President Bola Tinubu departed New Delhi, India, on Sunday morning for Abu Dhabi.
His visit aims to engage the President of the UAE and other high-ranking government officials in discussions surrounding the protracted issue.
The UAE implemented a ban on Nigerian travellers in October of the previous year, citing numerous incidents of violent crimes allegedly involving Nigerian nationals as a key factor.
Additionally, this visa restriction has been linked to a substantial sum of over $300 million held by Emirates Airline, as reported by sources within the aviation industry.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has grappled with foreign exchange challenges over the past few years, hindering its ability to meet the repatriation demands of several foreign airlines, including Emirates Airline.
