President Bola Tinubu has expressed joy over the rescue of 38 abducted worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State and the recovery of 51 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State.
He said he is fully monitoring the nationwide security situation and receiving steady updates from troops and security agencies at the frontline.
The President recalled that he cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa so he could personally coordinate security operations at home. According to him, prioritising national safety was more important than any international engagement at this critical moment.
On Friday night, President Tinubu received a detailed briefing from the Director General of the Department of State Services Oluwatosin Ajayi at the State House. The update followed several days of intensified operations aimed at locating abducted citizens and strengthening security response across troubled areas.
In a message posted on his X handle, the President expressed gratitude to security operatives, noting that their “efforts over the last few days” made the rescue of the 38 worshippers in Kwara and 51 students in Niger possible. He said the successful operations demonstrated renewed commitment among security forces.
President Tinubu assured Nigerians that he would not relent in ensuring public safety, emphasising that every citizen in every state deserves protection. He said that under his leadership as Commander in Chief, the government remains determined to secure the nation and guarantee safety for families and communities.
Reaffirming his commitment, the President said he was “closely monitoring the security situation” and receiving continuous feedback from the field. He added that his administration will stay focused on eliminating threats and safeguarding Nigerians wherever they live.
