In a bid to expedite the ongoing construction on Adekunle Ramp, all traffic, both inward and outward, will be temporarily halted from Sunday, November 19th, to December 8th, 2023. This closure, spanning a five-week period, is aimed at completing the project promptly. Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation Made this known
During this period, motorists are advised to consider alternative routes:
- Lagos Island to Ebute Metta: Utilise Ilubirin to connect Carter Bridge (Idumota Bridge), leading to Iddo, and then proceed inwards to Otto/Oyingbo via Herbert Macaulay Way.
- Victoria Island Traffic: Follow the route from Bonny Camp to Onikan Marina Bridge, then through Apongbon to Eko Bridge. Continue via Costain, Apapa Road, Railway Compound, Alagomeji, Glover Road, and Apena Junction, finally accessing Herbert Macaulay Way.
- Lagos-Ibadan Travellers via Adekunle: Opt for Ikorodu Road (Ojota, Anthony, Onipanu, Fadeyi) and Jibowu to connect Herbert Macaulay Way for your onward journey.
- Gbagada Traffic: Go through Anthony Interchange, link Ikorodu Road via Jibowu, and access Herbert Macaulay Way to reach your destination.
- Apapa-Oshodi Expressway to Ebute-Metta: Connect Oshodi Bridge to Town Planning Way, then proceed to Ikorodu Road for access to various destinations.
Ample traffic and security personnel will be deployed at construction zones and alternative routes to ensure smooth flow. Motorists are urged to cooperate, exercise patience, and adhere to safety measures during the palliative work.
It’s important to note that the Third Mainland Bridge remains open to motorists, with only the Adekunle Ramp being affected during this period.
Meanwhile, the state government has also announced a temporary traffic diversion plan at the Median Inward Victoria Island and Ajah by the Lekki Phase I intersection.
This diversion will be in effect for two consecutive weekends, specifically on Saturday, November 18th to Sunday, November 19th, and Saturday, December 2nd to Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, from midnight to 5:00 am each weekend.
During this period, the lane by the median inward Victoria Island and Ajah will be closed to vehicular movement. To accommodate motorists, alternative routes have been proposed for each scenario:
– On Saturday, November 18th, and Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, motorists travelling from Victoria Island along the Lekki-Epe Expressway heading towards Ajah will be redirected to the Lay-by behind LCC/Hitech Yard along Lekki Phase I for the duration of their journey. Other traffic on Victoria Island will remain unaffected.
While On Sunday, November 19th, and Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, motorists heading from Ajah along the Lekki-Epe Expressway towards Victoria Island will maintain their route of three lanes to Lekki Phase I.
Subsequently, the three lanes will merge to form two lanes. Motorists from Victoria Island en route to Lekki Phase I will be diverted to make a U-turn at Lekki Second Junction to access Lekki Phase I.
Motorists are urged to exercise patience during this period, as the state’s Traffic Management personnel will be present to direct movement and minimise inconveniences.
