Trump At Risk Of Losing Florida: Polls Show Narrowing Lead Over Biden

Recent polls indicate that former President Donald Trump might be at risk of losing his lead in Florida, a state he previously won in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

The latest surveys reveal a tightening race between Trump and President Joe Biden, suggesting a competitive 2024 election in what has traditionally been a key battleground state.

A poll conducted by Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Mainstreet Research on June 8-9 among 883 registered voters shows Trump leading Biden by four points, with 46% to Biden’s 42%.

This marks a decline from April, where Trump held a 50% to 42% lead. Dukhong Kim, an associate professor of political science at FAU, commented on the poll results, stating that Biden has made modest gains, keeping the race competitive in Florida.

A separate Fox News poll, conducted from June 1-4 among 1,075 registered voters, also shows a four-point lead for Trump in a head-to-head race against Biden.

When other candidates are included, Trump leads with 47%, followed by Biden at 40%, and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 7%. The left-wing People’s Party candidate Cornel West had 2% support, followed by Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 1%.

Additionally, a Tyson Group poll conducted from June 6-9 among 1,050 likely voters indicates Trump at 46% and Biden at 36%. Poll tracker FiveThirtyEight’s analysis of Florida polls shows Trump with an average of 45.3% support in Florida, while Biden trails at 36.6%, and Kennedy at 7.8%.

Despite these gains for Biden, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung emphasized Trump’s dominance over Biden both nationally and in battleground states. These poll results suggest that Florida, despite leaning more Republican in recent election cycles, remains a significant battleground state for the 2024 election.
