Vice President Kashim Shettima has embarked on a journey from Abuja to Dallas, United States, where he will stand in for President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit.
Organised by the Corporate Council on Africa, the summit is set to convene at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas.
In a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, it was disclosed that Vice President Shettima will join a distinguished gathering of political and business leaders from Africa, the United States, and beyond. The summit aims to facilitate high-level dialogues, networking opportunities, and plenary sessions to bolster economic ties between the two continents.
Among the African leaders expected to attend are Presidents Joseph Boakai of Liberia, Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, Joao Lourenço of Angola, Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana, José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho.
During the summit, Vice President Shettima is slated to participate in various sessions, including the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment and a pivotal plenary session centred on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future. Additionally, he will contribute to a high-level panel discussion on agribusiness, with a focus on transitioning “from food insecurity to thriving agribusinesses.”
