Vice President Shettima To Lead Nigeria’s Contingent To 2025 Hajj.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh, has announced that Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
Speaking during a live programme, Saleh stated that the Vice President would be performing the religious rite as a Muslim while also personally supervising the exercise. He emphasised that Shettima’s direct involvement would provide first-hand insight into the management of the pilgrimage, reducing reliance on third-party reports and curbing misinformation.
On the preparations for this year’s Hajj, Saleh confirmed that arrangements were progressing smoothly, with provisions already made for over 70,000 pilgrims from Nigeria’s 95,000 quota. He expressed satisfaction with the steps taken to control the rising cost of the pilgrimage and hinted at further financial relief for intending pilgrims.
The NAHCON chairman also revealed that Saudi authorities have introduced dual health measures—Health Service Providers—that all participating countries must comply with. He urged state pilgrims’ welfare boards, agencies, and commissions to strictly adhere to these guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage.
Saleh reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to ensuring a well-organised and efficient Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims, with a focus on both spiritual fulfilment and logistical excellence.
