After securing a second consecutive promotion, Wrexham is set to compete in League One next season. This achievement follows their National League victory last year, marking their return to the EFL after a 15-year hiatus.
“I felt there were a lot more chapters to be written last year when we got promotion,” said Parkinson. “I firmly believe that’s still the case now.”
Wrexham’s path to promotion was solidified with a resounding 6-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers, combined with defeats for MK Dons and Barrow. This secured automatic promotion for the club, delighting their Hollywood owners despite their absence from the stadium.
“Rob rang up, and I’ve had a great chat with him,” Parkinson shared. “They deserve a lot of credit for the support they’ve given, and I’m sure they will be celebrating in the US.”
The club’s ownership duo recognizes the importance of building a strong foundation, especially through their academy. Parkinson emphasized the significance of this structure for the club’s future progress and success.
“Owning a football club is tough. It’s not an easy job, and you’ve got to savor these promotions,” Parkinson acknowledged. “We’re building a structure underneath, and I think that’s really important with the academy.”
