The highly anticipated 2024 edition of the National Sports Festival has been officially postponed to January 2025, according to a recent announcement by the Minister of Sports, John Enoh. This update was released following a meeting of the National Council for Sports at the Old Government College Lodge in Enugu.
The postponement comes after the former Minister of Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare, announced at the end of the last edition that the next festival would be hosted by Ogun State in 2024. Despite this change in schedule, Minister Enoh praised Ogun State for its readiness to host the event, emphasizing its importance in fostering national unity.
“The readiness of Ogun State to stage the events is commendable,” Enoh stated. “The National Sports Festival plays a vital role in the national unity of our country, and ensuring its success is of utmost importance.”
The decision to reschedule the festival aims to allow ample time for thorough preparations, ensuring that the event will be conducted smoothly and to the highest standards.
