Amir Khan Brings World-Class Boxing To Nigeria With Historic Lagos Fight Night.

Former world boxing champion Amir Khan is set to make history by staging Nigeria’s first major professional boxing event, titled *Chaos In The Ring*, in Lagos on 1 October 2025, coinciding with Nigerian Independence Day. Partnering with Dr Ezekiel Adamu’s Balmoral Group Promotions and backed by the National Sports Commission of Nigeria, the event will be broadcast globally on DAZN, showcasing a blend of international stars and local talent in a landmark moment for African boxing. Khan, who promoted a successful card in Ghana in June, aims to inspire a new generation and elevate Nigeria’s place on the global boxing stage.

The headline bout features a high-stakes cruiserweight clash between American knockout artist Brandon Glanton (20-3, 17 KOs) and Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding (30-3, 18 KOs), who is returning after a three-year hiatus. Glanton, fresh off a competitive loss to former world champion Chris Billam-Smith, promised an explosive performance, stating, “I’m coming to Lagos to settle the score with Rocky Fielding. Our styles guarantee fireworks.” Fielding, who has faced the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith, responded, “After three years out, I’m back with a fire to claim my place at the top. Beating Glanton in Lagos will show I’m ready for a world title shot.”

The undercard is equally compelling, featuring Ghana’s former IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey (30-5-1, 27 KOs) in a must-win fight against rising Kazakh prospect Ray Seitzhanov (13-1, 9 KOs). British-Nigerian light-heavyweight Dan Azeez (21-2-1, 13 KOs), a former British, Commonwealth, and European champion, will make his Nigerian debut, fulfilling a personal dream. “Fighting in Nigeria on Independence Day is a dream come true,” Azeez said. “This is for my heritage, my people, and my pride.” Other bouts include Nigeria’s Basit Adebayo (9-0, 4 KOs) facing Tanzania’s Tony Rashid (17-4-3, 11 KOs) for the WBO Africa title, and undefeated prospects Kerem Ozman (5-0) versus Tosin Osaigbovo (12-0, 8 KOs), alongside Nigeria’s Yusuf Adeniji (12-0, 10 KOs).

Khan, now 38 and a promoter since retiring after his 2022 loss to Kell Brook, sees the event as more than just a fight night. “I’m thrilled to bring world-class boxing and the world’s eyes onto Nigeria for the first time,” he said. “This is about showcasing the heart and skill of Nigerian boxers alongside international stars. Lagos is ready to shine.” Dr Adamu echoed this sentiment, calling it “a monumental moment for African boxing” that celebrates Nigeria’s heritage on a global stage.

The event has generated buzz across Nigeria and beyond, with fans on platforms like X praising Khan’s vision for African boxing. However, some have raised concerns about logistical challenges, such as accessibility for local fans, given the global broadcast focus. Nigeria, with its rich boxing history, including Olympic champions like Duncan Dokiwari, has never hosted a professional card of this magnitude, making *Chaos In The Ring* a cultural and sporting milestone. As Lagos prepares to host this historic night, the event promises to deliver thrilling action and put Nigerian boxing firmly on the global map.
