President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of nine new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a term of five years each, subject to the confirmation of the Senate. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said on Wednesday that seven of its operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Command were attacked and held hostage by students and staff of Federal College of Forestry, Idi-shin Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State. The Sokoto State Election Petition Tribunal has ruled in favor of Aminu Tambuwal, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), upholding his victory as the duly elected Senator for Sokoto South Senatorial District. Danbaba’s petition alleged that the election did not comply substantially with the provisions of the Electoral Act and requested the Tribunal to declare the election inconclusive. President Tinubu had on the 2nd  of September, 2023 recalled all Nigeria’s ambassadors, both career and non-career. They were asked to return to the country on or before October 31, 2023. The Wazirin Fika, Alhaji Adamu Fika, has passed away at the age of 90. The elder statesman had been in the United Kingdom, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment before he was returned to Nigeria not long ago. NNPCL has disclosed that crude oil thieves have resorted to a new tactic of installing CCTV on trees to evade security operatives.
