The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has debunked a news publication in an online media alleging non-establishment of testing laboratory for food fortification. A statement by NAFDAC Resident Media Consultant, Mr Olusayo Akintola, in Abuja on Monday stated that the attention of the agency was drawn to the Sept. 30 publication by “Flowerbud NEWS” in respect of the subject matter. Akintola stated that the publication claimed that this assertion was made by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) in collaboration with the Civil Society Legislative Advisory Centre (CSLAC) and eHealth. Liverpool are to appeal against the red card given to Curtis Jones during their controversial 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Jones was sent off for fouling Yves Bissouma on 26 minutes after a video assistant referee (VAR) intervention. Referee Simon Hooper initially gave Jones a yellow card for the challenge, but changed his decision after going to the pitchside monitor. The West African Examinations Council has named Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the Head of the Nigeria National Office of the institution thereby succeeding Patrick Areghan. Areghan’s tenure ended in September 2023 which made way for Dangut’s appointment, WAEC said in a statement on Monday. The new WAEC boss joined the Council in 1998 and started as an Assistant Registrar II and rose to become a Deputy Registrar in April 2018. Tottenham have condemned racist abuse directed at defender Destiny Udogie on social media after Saturday’s 2-1 home win against Liverpool. Liverpool forward Diogo Jota was sent off for a second bookable offence when he fouled Udogie. President Bola Tinubu has responded to the rejection of his initial offer by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) by raising the temporary allowance for treasury-paid Federal Government workers.
