“APC Community in Shock as Ethiope-East Acting Chairman Killed; Leaders Demand Justice”

Gunmen on Sunday fatally shot Felix Ese Idisi, the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State. The motive behind the killing remains unclear at the time of this report, but the incident has sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape.

Condemnation from Top Political Figures

Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, condemned the murder as a “barbaric act of violence” and “an attack on democracy and the democratic process in Delta State.”

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the brutal murder of our Acting LGA Chairman,” Omo-Agege wrote on Facebook. “This act is a stark reminder of the insecurity and lawlessness in our state. I condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and call on the police to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

Demand for Swift Justice

Omo-Agege also highlighted that the killers had previously boasted of targeting political opponents in the area. “The perpetrators must be arrested, prosecuted, and punished. Killing is not our culture in Delta APC; our culture is winning hearts one person at a time,” he emphasized.

He further warned that any attempt to introduce violence into the party’s political processes would be met with strong resistance.

Solidarity with the APC Family

The former Senate Deputy President extended condolences to Idisi’s family, friends, and the APC community in Ethiope East LGA. He assured them that justice would be served and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peaceful democratic governance.

Broader Implications

The killing of Felix Idisi highlights the persistent issue of political violence in Delta State and underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures for public office holders. The incident also raises broader questions about the safety of political actors and the rule of law in the region.
