Fubara Praises Steady Progress On Trans Kalabari Road Project

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has lauded the significant progress recorded on the 12.5-kilometre Trans Kalabari Road project, describing the development as a symbol of dedication and excellence by his administration.

The governor expressed satisfaction during his inspection of the ongoing construction, saying the project reflects his government’s commitment to opening up the riverine areas for economic growth and connectivity.

Governor Fubara revealed that about 75 percent of the piling work has been completed, assuring that the construction is on schedule despite the challenging terrain. “The terrain is difficult, and the engineering work required is complex, but I can confirm that the reports I’ve been receiving are accurate. Almost 75 percent of the piling job has been achieved,” he stated.

The project, awarded to Lubrik Construction Company Limited in May 2024, is expected to be completed within 32 months. The first phase covers about 12.5 kilometres, featuring four major river-crossing bridges and several deck-on-pile structures, connecting communities such as Bakana and others across the Kalabari axis.

Fubara described the road as a strategic investment that will ease movement between Kalabari communities and Port Harcourt, enhancing commerce, tourism, and social integration. He emphasized that once completed, the project will transform the economic landscape of the area and improve the living conditions of residents.

The governor further pledged that visible progress will continue, adding that by the next six months, he expects to drive across one of the major bridges. “By God’s grace, if we return here for inspection in six months, we might be driving across the bridge,” Fubara assured.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing infrastructure projects that deliver lasting value and foster inclusive development. “Our goal is to ensure that every community feels the impact of good governance through practical and result-driven projects,” he added.
