Governor AbdulRazaq Urges Kwara South Stakeholders To Prioritise Unity.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called on stakeholders in the Kwara South Senatorial District to maintain unity and collaboration to advance the socio-economic development of the region.

Speaking via Zoom during a one-day summit organised by the Kwara South Development Initiative (KSDI) in Abuja, the governor expressed his full support for the initiative and highlighted his administration’s efforts to transform the state from a consumption-based economy to a productive one.

The summit, themed on fostering socio-economic growth, reviewed the administration’s achievements in the district and encouraged further collaboration among leaders.

Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated the importance of economic independence, stating:

“We must transition from being a consumption state to a productive one, ensuring we are not reliant on handouts from Abuja. This is essential for our economic emancipation, security, and unity.”

He praised KSDI’s commitment to driving progress in the district, describing the initiative as aligned with his administration’s vision. He also acknowledged the efforts of Dr Johnson Adewumi, the chief convener, and Raheem Adedoyin Oloriewe for their leadership in organising the summit.

Participants at the summit commended the state government for various completed and ongoing projects in Kwara South, including:

– Infrastructure Development: Completion of the Osi Campus of Kwara State University, construction of key roads such as Omu-Aran-Oko-Oro Ago, Ajase-Okeya-Igbaja, and the Obbo Aiyegunle road, which had been abandoned for over 50 years.

– Improved Security: Enhanced safety across the region, attributed to the combined efforts of the state and local governments.

– Empowerment Initiatives: Establishment of functional cooperative societies in Irepodun, Ekiti, and Ifelodun local government areas, aimed at boosting local economies and empowering communities.

Dr Johnson Adewumi, in his address, urged stakeholders to remain committed to the region’s development and foster partnerships to improve the fortunes of its people. The summit emphasised the importance of cooperative societies and encouraged all local governments to replicate these initiatives at the ward level.

The event also saw cabinet members, including commissioners Bolanle Olukoju and Dr Mary Arinde, presenting scorecards of the government’s achievements in the district.

Governor AbdulRazaq assured stakeholders of his administration’s continued commitment to the development of Kwara South, stating that he hopes to personally attend future engagements to further underscore his support.

The summit served as a platform for stakeholders to review progress, strengthen collaboration, and chart a unified course for the future of the senatorial district.
