JUST IN: Fresh Controversial Letters Emerge As PDP Crisis Deepens

Fresh tension has gripped the Peoples Democratic Party as new controversial letters allegedly issued by a faction surfaced, widening the internal crisis within the party.

The letters, which reportedly targeted key national officers including the National Secretary and the National Organising Secretary, were said to have been dated September 30 and circulated by a rival camp ahead of the party’s convention.

The National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, dismissed the letters as fake and without any legal backing, insisting that those behind them lacked the authority to issue such warnings. He expressed strong displeasure over the matter, saying “It is nonsense Can anyone there dare give me a warning letter” while stressing that no official communication of such nature was served on him.

National Organising Secretary Umar Bature also faulted the letters and denied ever receiving them. He maintained that the individuals who signed the documents were not recognised by the party’s leadership or its constitution. Bature clarified that “They do not have any power to write such or to suspend anybody” describing the act as an attempt to justify actions carried out outside the party’s legal framework.

The letters reportedly carried names of persons whose claims to certain positions had been nullified by recent court rulings. Among them were individuals earlier paraded as replacements for key officers, including those linked to factions attempting to take control of the party structure. Their involvement has raised fresh questions about the legality of actions taken by the rival group.

This development comes amid a growing power tussle between opposing blocs within the party, with some influential figures openly aligning with the faction believed to have orchestrated the controversial move. Reports indicate that several former governors, senators and party stakeholders have been exchanging congratulatory messages with the faction on its recent activities, further heightening the internal division.

As the party prepares for its national convention scheduled for November, the emergence of these letters has intensified uncertainty around the PDP’s leadership and internal processes. Members and analysts are now calling for urgent reconciliation efforts to prevent the crisis from escalating further and affecting the party’s stability ahead of future political engagements.
