Lagos Govt To Carry Out Night Repairs On Ozumba Mbadiwe Road From Sept 15–21

The Lagos State Government has announced that night-time repair works will begin on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, covering the stretch from Bonny Camp junction, from Monday, September 15 to Sunday, September 21, 2025

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the works would be carried out daily from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to reduce disruption to traffic flow.

“The Lagos State Government will carry out repair works on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road from Bonny Camp junction starting Monday, 15th September, to Sunday, 21st September 2025. The works will take place at night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to ensure minimal impact on traffic,” the statement read in part.

Motorists have been urged to be patient and cooperate with traffic management officials during the repair period. Conducting the works at night is a deliberate move to minimize inconvenience for daytime commuters and improve traffic operations along the busy route. The government emphasized that carrying out repairs during off-peak hours will ensure better traffic flow and safety for residents and road users.

In addition to the Ozumba Mbadiwe Road repairs, Lagosians should also note the ongoing 110-day emergency repair programme on the Oworonshoki/Third Axial Bridge, which began on May 6 and is expected to run until September 23, 2025. The project is being implemented in eight phases, with the first four phases focused on the inbound carriageway toward the 3rd Mainland Bridge and the remaining four phases targeting the outbound carriageway. Partial lane closures have been reported, making alternative routes crucial to reducing travel delays.

Travelers heading to or from Mowe and adjoining communities are advised to use Funsho Williams Avenue and Eko Bridge, while those coming from Ikeja can access Maryland to Funsho Williams Avenue before proceeding to Eko Bridge or Outer Marina. The Lagos State Government continues to urge all motorists to plan ahead, follow traffic advisories, and cooperate with officials to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during these essential repair works.
