In turn around event, Sanwo- Olu administration of Lagos State government has dissolved its Park and Garages Committee (LASPG) to allow the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to coordinate activities across motor parks and garages in the state.

It was gathered that the Lagos governor instructed the Ministry of Transportation to dissolve the committee and return NURTW.

This  dissolution was made on Friday after the state government lifted the indefinite suspension placed on NURTW barely one year and a half ago over internal leadership wrangling between members.

After weeks of mediation by the Lagos State Government between the National Committee and the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), it has been revealed that this development emerged as a resolution to the ongoing crisis that had sparked a face-off among the members.

During a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Transportation by the Union Leaders, Abdulhafiz Toriola, the Permanent Secretary, expressed that the State Government has taken necessary steps to facilitate a peaceful resolution between the National Chapter and State Chapter of the Union. This involved lifting the suspension placed on the Union over a year ago.

Toriola also commended the executives of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee for their dedication and encouraged the Union to maintain peace and adhere to their constitution as they transition back to NURTW.

Najeem Yasin, the Former National President of the Union and Chairman of the Transition Committee, praised the State Government and the Ministry for their efforts in the resolution process. Yasin assured the State Government that the union will continue to support the law and contribute to the development of the State.

Musliu Akinsanya, the reinstated Chairman, expressed gratitude to the State Government and the National EXCO of the NURTW for their support and pledged the full cooperation of the Lagos Chapter with the State.

The members of the National body present include; Comrade Aliyu Issa Ore, Hassan Haruna and Comrade Kayode Adeyanju, while others from the Lagos State Parks and Garages include Sulaimon Ojora, Olayiwola, Ibrahim Yusuf, Shittu Ganiyu, Yinka Hassan, Moshood Omojuwa ,Agoro Ismaila, Akeem Tijani Salami
