LeBron James Makes NBA History With 50,000 Career Points.
LeBron James has become the first player in NBA history to surpass 50,000 combined points, achieving the milestone during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 136-115 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 40-year-old basketball icon reached the historic mark early in the first quarter, receiving a pass from Luka Dončić before sinking a stunning 25-foot three-pointer. James, who is already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, finished the game with 34 points, taking his career total to 60,149—6,000 more than second-placed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
His total includes a record 41,871 regular-season points, adding to his 8,162 postseason points, where he also holds the title of the NBA’s all-time leading playoff scorer.
Reflecting on his achievement, James said:
“I’m not going to sugar-coat it – it’s a hell of a lot of points. I’m super blessed to be able to put up that many points in my career in the best league in the world and against the best players in the world – it’s pretty special.”
James reached the milestone in his 22nd NBA season, equalling Vince Carter’s record for the most seasons played in league history.
Lakers’ Winning Streak Continues
James was instrumental in the Lakers’ seventh consecutive win, which saw them climb to second place in the Western Conference standings. He was supported by Dončić, who delivered a standout performance with 30 points, 15 assists, and eight rebounds.

James Named Western Conference Player of the Month
Earlier on Tuesday, James was also recognised as the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Month after averaging 29.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in the previous month. At 40, he became the oldest player ever to receive the award.
With his record-breaking career continuing at an elite level, James remains a dominant force in the NBA, further cementing his legacy as one of basketball’s greatest players of all time.
