Silvia Pinal, a renowned Mexican actress, has passed away at the age of 93.
Mexico’s Culture Secretary, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, announced her death, describing Pinal as a “theater pioneer” with an “unforgettable” impact on Mexican culture.
Pinal’s acting career spanned over seven decades, with her debut in 1949 in the comedy ‘Dos Pesos la Dejada’. She gained international recognition for her roles in Luis Buñuel’s films, including ‘Viridiana’ (1962), ‘Simon of the Desert’ (1965), and ‘The Exterminating Angel’ (1967).
Pinal was also a successful producer, with her popular telenovela ‘Mujer, casos de la vida Real’ airing for over 20 years. She was also involved in Mexican politics, winning seats in the chamber of deputies, senate, and Mexico City local assembly.
Pinal’s legacy will be remembered for generations to come, and her impact on Mexican culture will never be forgotten.
