NELFUND: Step-by-Step Guide For Student Loan Application

The student loan offered by NELFUND provides credit facilities for tuition fees and living expenses at recognized higher education and vocational training institutions within Nigeria.

Here are the steps to apply for the student loan as outlined by NELFUND:

1. Visit the NELFUND Website:
– Go to nelf.gov.ng .
– Click on “Apply Now”.
– Click on “Get Started”.
– Confirm your nationality by clicking on “Yes, I am a Nigerian”.

2. Verify Your Educational Information:
– Select your school from a dropdown menu and provide your matric number to check if your details are uploaded.
– Click “Verify with JAMB” and enter your JAMB details. If your NIN is not registered with JAMB, enter your NIN for validation.





3. Create an Account:
– Enter your email address and password, confirm the password, and click “Create Account”.
– Click the email verification link sent to your email to complete account creation.

Completing Your Profile:

1. Log In:
– Enter your email address and password.
– Click on “Proceed to Contact Details”.

2. Update Contact Details:
– Provide your current phone number, full residential address, state of residence, and local government area.
– Click “Proceed to Educational Details”.

3. Update Educational Details:
– Select your higher institution and enter your matric number.
– Click “Proceed to Account Details”.

4.  Verify Your BVN:
– Enter your BVN, select your bank name, and enter your account number.
– Click “Save Changes” to complete your profile.

 Applying for the Loan:

1. Request a Student Loan:
– Click on the “Request for student loan” button at the top right of the screen.

2.  Choose Loan Type:
– If you need an upkeep loan, check the appropriate box and click “Continue”. If only the institutional charge is needed, just click “Continue”.

3. Upload Supporting Documents:
– The admission letter is compulsory; student ID and institution invoice are optional.
– Agree to the policy and declaration and click “Continue”.

4. Review and Submit:
– Read the loan overview, agree to the terms & conditions and GSI Mandate, then click “Submit Application”.

5. Check Application Status:
– Click on the “Loans” button to view the status of your application.

By following these steps, students can apply for the financial support they need to pursue their education.
