Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on Nigeria’s politicians and leaders at all levels to unite and fight insecurity ravaging the country.
Obi made this call in a post on his verified X handle on Wednesday.
His comment comes against the backdrop of the renewed escalated insecurity in Nigeria, where a personnel of the Nigerian Army including a Brigadier General were killed by ISWAP terrorists.
In the same vein, terrorists stormed a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church CAC in Eruku town, under Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting several others including the pastor.
Reacting to the attacks, Obi said, “A few weeks ago, when President Trump described our country as now disgraced, many were outraged. Yet, how can we dispute it when, within a single week, 25 people were kidnapped, and one of our generals along with other officers was killed?”
He added, “Today, we witnessed another troubling terror attack in Kwara State. Rather than uniting in this critical moment, we are consumed by internal wrangling, party squabbles, and distractions.”
Obi’s statement highlights the urgent need for collective action by Nigerian leaders to address the growing insecurity and protect citizens from terror attacks.
