At a meeting in Abuja’s Ministry Headquarters, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to completing the National Data Fusion Centre (NCDFC).
The center aims to facilitate the exchange of information among security agencies to combat criminal activities across the country.
The meeting, attended by key figures including AIG Stanley Udeh from INTERPOL and Ministry officials, emphasized the importance of completing 18 ongoing projects related to security infrastructure. Dr. Sani-Gwarzo highlighted that the completion of these projects would significantly enhance the capabilities of security agencies in crime-solving, law enforcement, and fostering effective interagency collaboration.
Dr. Sani-Gwarzo emphasized the need for swift action in filling any identified gaps to ensure the seamless implementation of the Ministry’s technological transformation initiatives. He expressed optimism that with these efforts, the Nigeria Police Force would be better equipped to deliver quality service to the Nigerian populace.
Addressing the significance of establishing a centralized Criminal Data Centre, AIG Stanley Udeh stressed the importance of harmonizing data among sister agencies. He emphasized the role of INTERPOL in supporting global law enforcement operations, transcending diplomatic and other barriers.
The progress of the National Criminal Data Centre and National Crime and Incident Data Base Centre under the Ministry’s supervision was also discussed. AIG Udeh called for the establishment of a committee to facilitate interagency collaboration in developing the center.
