Premier League Mid-week Actions: Arsenal Conquered the City Ground of Nottingham after failing in 3 consecutive games in the past. The visiting Gunners needed a win to bring back a challenge on top spot currently been occupied by Liverpool and second half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka was enough to give them the maximum 3 point despite Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi pulling one back to give the Gunners some late nerves in Nottingham, but Arsenal held on to secure the maximum 3 point.

The result push them to 2nd on the table 2 points behind Liverpool. At least pending the outcome of Manchester City’s game later today.

Elsewhere last night Luton Town Thrashed Brighton 4 goals to Nil to move out of the relegation zone with an hat-trick from Nigeria-born English Man Adebayo Elijah in an impressive home victory for Luton Town who moved to 17th position on the table. Luton completely overhauled Brighton who looked a shadow of themself in that encounter.

Top 4 contender Aston Villa were bruised at home at the Villa park stadium by Newcastle United 3:1 with a brace from Magpie’s Fabian Schar and an own goal by Moreno enough to see the visitors triumphed. Ollie Watkins continued his impressive exploit in front of goal as he scored a consolation for Aston Villa. After 90minutes plus of football action it ended Aston Villa 1 Newcastle 3.

The Game of the Night was in Selhurst Park where Crystal Palace lock horns with Relegation threatened Sheffield United. It was a night of goals as the game eventually ended 3:2 in favour of Crystal Palace. Eberechi Eze likewise got himself a brace in that encounter.

The first half was full of fury from both sides as four goals were scored. Brereton Diaz opened the scoring for sheffield just 1 minute into the game before Eze levelled up 17 minutes later. Mctee restored Sheffield’s lead 20minutes on the clock before Eze once again linked up well with Micheal Olise for the equalizer.

The pair had an outstanding night as Olise scored the winning in the 67th minutes and in the process securing the maximum 3 point for Roy Hogson’s side who been on the loosing end for 2 games in the new Year. The result leaves Crystal Palace 14th on the Log while Sheffield United continue to swim in relegation waters remaining 20th on the table.

Finally The only game of the night without a goal was at Craven Cottage where Fulham hosted Everton FC. It was a cagey affair althrough and none of the team was able to find the back of the net. After 90 minutes of football action it ended 0:0 between Fulham and Everton FC. The outcome leaves Everton 18th on the Log with 18 points following their initial 10points deduction by the FA for breaking FFP related issues.

Mid-week Actions Continue Tonight

Defending Champions Manchester City will welcome former club captain Vincent Kompany and his team Burnley to Etihad stadium.

A win for Pep Guardiola’s men will see them reclaim the second spot from Arsenal.

While Tottenham will host Brentford in North London. Both match kickoff 8:30pm Nigerian time.

The match of the day is at Anfield where Liverpool will welcome Chelsea 9:15pm (WAT)

And Jurgen Klopp will be looking to consolidate on their top position after the shocking announcement by the German about stepping down in the summer.
