PSC Promotes 27 Senior Police Officers To Higher Ranks.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 27 senior police officers to higher ranks, reflecting its commitment to merit-based career advancement within the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Among those promoted are 11 Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police. The promotions were finalised on Monday, 16 December, following rigorous written and oral examinations at the PSC Corporate Headquarters.





 

PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, stated that written and oral assessments would now be prerequisites for promotion across all ranks in the Nigeria Police Force. He emphasised the importance of continuous professional development and proficiency in ICT, encouraging officers to adopt global best practices in policing.

 

The newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General of Police include Umar Shehu Nadada (Nasarawa State), Mustapha Mohammed Bala (Rivers State), Abayomi Peter Oladipo (Ondo State), Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke (SWAT, FCID Abuja), Ibrahim Abdullahi (Kaduna State), and Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka (PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters Abuja). Others are Akinwale Kunle Adeniran (Ekiti State), Zubairu Abubakar (Police Staff College, Jos), Fom Pam Joseph (Homicide, FCID Abuja), Emuobo Fred Ekokotu (Airwing, Abuja), and Garba Musa Yusuf (Police Staff College, Jos).

 

The newly promoted Commissioners of Police include Kayode Ojapinwa (SCID, FCT), Emmanuel Ighodalo (ZCID, Zone 8 Lokoja), Bose Funmi Akinyemi (SEB, FCID Lagos), Barayimil Ahmadu Samaila (DFA, Kogi State), Martin Nwogoh (DFA, Zone 2 Lagos), and Shetima Jauro Mohammed (SCID, Nasarawa State). Others promoted are Ibrahim Gotan (DFA, Zone 2 Bauchi), Rabiu Mohammed (Ops, Zone 3 Yola), Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola (SCID, Ekiti State), Adepoju Olugbenga Adewale (Ops, Rivers State), Bello Yahaya (Anti-Money Laundering, FCID Abuja), and Hauwa Ibrahim Jibrin (DFA, FCT). The list also includes Abayomi Shogunle (Ops, Osun State), Mohammed Azare Baba (Ops, Akwa Ibom State), Ezekiel Philip Husseini (ZCID, Zone 3 Yola), and Ibrahim Adamu Bakori (Ops, Bayelsa State).

 

DIG Taiwo Lakanu, a Commissioner and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, led the oral interviews and advised the officers to focus on excellence in their new roles. He reassured them that promotions would remain merit-based and timely.

 

The PSC plenary meeting is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, with further deliberations on police matters.
