Scottish League: Celtic Maintain Old Firm Dominance With Convincing Win Over Rangers

Celtic Maintain Old Firm Dominance With Convincing Win Over Rangers.

Celtic continued their stronghold on the Old Firm derby with a commanding 3-0 victory over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. The win at Celtic Park reinforced the recent pattern of Celtic dominance in this historic fixture and pushed the champions five points clear of their fierce rivals after just four league games.

Rangers, despite starting the match with aggression and intent, were soon overpowered by a composed and clinical Celtic side. Daizen Maeda opened the scoring in the first half with a close-range finish from Alistair Johnston’s cross, capitalising on some sloppy defending from Rangers. Celtic had already seen a goal disallowed earlier, with Kyogo Furuhashi’s strike ruled out for offside against Nicolas Kuhn.

However, Furuhashi did not have to wait long to add to his impressive derby goal tally. The Japanese striker delivered a precise finish from the edge of the box, doubling Celtic’s lead and putting them firmly in control.

Rangers had their moments, particularly at the start of the second half when Cyriel Dessers had a golden opportunity to pull one back. However, his effort was easily saved by Kasper Schmeichel, leaving Rangers to rue their missed chances.

The match saw a quieter second period, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to convert. Furuhashi missed a rare chance to add another when he found the side-netting, while Ross McCausland and John Souttar squandered opportunities for Rangers.

Callum McGregor sealed the win in style for Celtic, smashing home from the edge of the box to ensure a routine victory and further establish Celtic’s early-season supremacy in the league.

This result leaves Celtic in a commanding position in the Scottish Premiership as they aim to defend their title, while Rangers are left searching for answers in the wake of yet another Old Firm disappointment.
