Napoli Lead Serie A, Inter and Juventus in Pursuit After Weekend’s Action.

Antonio Conte’s Napoli have surged to the top of the Serie A table after Sunday’s fixtures in the fourth round of the season. The Neapolitans, who secured an emphatic 4-0 victory over Sassuolo, now sit at the summit, but Udinese have the opportunity to overtake them if they manage to defeat Parma away on Monday night.

The weekend saw a return to action after the international break, with Italian football offering plenty of entertainment. Both Napoli and AC Milan secured dominant 4-0 wins, while Atalanta edged Fiorentina 3-2 in a thrilling encounter earlier on Sunday.

Napoli’s win marked their third consecutive league victory, setting them up for a highly anticipated clash against Juventus in Turin next Sunday. Meanwhile, reigning champions and title favourites Inter Milan sit in second place with eight points, following a 1-1 draw against Monza on Sunday. Inter are level on points with both Juventus and Torino, who each have two points per game after being held to goalless draws against Empoli and Lecce respectively.

Udinese and Hellas Verona, currently in fifth and sixth positions, could climb further up the table depending on their performances against Parma and Lazio in Monday’s fixtures.

Atalanta’s second win of the season came in a gripping contest at the newly-refurbished Gewiss Stadium. La Dea’s 3-2 win over Fiorentina was highlighted by a goal from Ademola Lookman in first-half injury time, marking their first home victory of the season.

AC Milan finally got off the mark for the 2024-25 campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Venezia. Goals from Theo Hernandez, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham sealed the Rossoneri’s first victory under manager Paulo Fonseca this season.

Roma, however, are struggling to find their rhythm and currently languish in 16th place with just three points. Danielle De Rossi’s side have yet to register a win, having drawn three of their opening four matches.

As the Serie A season progresses, Napoli lead the charge, with Inter, Juventus, Atalanta and the rest of the chasing pack eager to close the gap. All eyes now turn to Monday’s fixtures, where Udinese have the chance to seize the top spot.
