Tinubu Calls For Stronger Security Synergy To Combat Crime.

President Bola Tinubu has called for greater collaboration among security agencies to enhance crime-fighting efforts across Nigeria.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Abeokuta on Monday, Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasised the importance of unity among security agencies in tackling banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.

Themed “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” the event focused on strengthening law enforcement strategies to create a safer environment for business and investment.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping security agencies with the necessary resources to combat crime effectively.

“We are committed to fostering economic growth by leveraging the vast potential of our human and natural resources. However, this vision is unattainable without a stable internal security landscape,” Tinubu stated.

He added that efforts were underway to bridge gaps in security infrastructure and enhance police welfare through initiatives such as police barracks renovations, improved mobility, and upgraded protective gear.

“The ongoing reforms, complemented by state government efforts, will inspire confidence and reposition the Nigeria Police Force (NPF),” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted his administration’s dedication to supporting the NPF in fulfilling its constitutional role, including implementing the new minimum wage to improve the welfare of police personnel.

In his remarks, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, described the conference as a vital platform for reviewing police strategies and aligning them with global security trends.

“Building on previous successes, we have undertaken major reforms in investigative procedures, prioritising forensic analysis, digital case management, and improved judicial collaboration,” Egbetokun said.

He further announced a directive for all police commands to implement a comprehensive action plan aimed at reducing crime rates by 50 per cent in 2025.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State commended the NPF for its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, pledging continued support for security agencies to maintain peace in the state.

The conference underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement, ensuring national security, and fostering economic prosperity through effective policing.
