The Lagos government has confirmed that Whitney Adeniran, the late student of Chrisland Schools in Opebi, Ikeja, died from electrocution. The school had said 12-year-old Whitney slumped and passed away during the school’s inter house sports competition at Agege Stadium. But the parents punctured the claim, stressing that their daughter was in a good health condition when the school bus picked her that morning. Lagos authorities, in mid-February, ordered the closure of the school pending the completion of investigation. The Supreme Court on Friday ordered that the old naira notes must remain in circulation till December 31 this year. The apex court ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to allow both the old naira notes and the new ones to circulate side by side till the end of the year. The World Health Organisation says an estimated 1.5 billion people globally live with hearing loss. The WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Matshidiso Moeti, made this known in her message to mark the 2023 World Hearing Day with theme: “Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality”. She also said that the number could rise to over 2.5 billion by 2030. Dozens including women are feared dead following an explosion from a crude oil tapping point in Rumuekpe commumity in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
